The day. A friend of mine, Sae An, asked me for a huge favor. He asked me to take some photos for Chan Ho Park's daughters birthday.
I was really shocked that he asked me! The fact that I had an opportunity to meet him in person, along with some of his Phillie's teammates at the time. I couldn't pass this up. As my wife and I arrived at Cork, a restaurant in Westmont, NJ, I saw a Hummer with the license plate "Park 61" on it, I had butterflies. Growing up, I myself played baseball and looked up to Chan Ho, since he was the first Korean to play in the major leagues. If I could say one thing about him, he's one really nice guy. He's also quite the jokester.
One by one, guests started to arrive, Chan Ho, his wife Ri-hye and my wife Grace, were putting together the last touches on the decorations. The place looked great.
Chan Ho and Ri-hye, adore their 2 daughters, Selynne and Elynne. Turns out, not only was it Elynne's first birthday, it was Selynne's 3rd birthday!
They had a birthday cake and presents for Selynne, which was really nice. She was so happy to blow out her candles.
At the end of the party, Chan Ho invited my wife and Cork's head chef Sae An, back to his house so he could get to know us. We exchanged numbers and emails and we still keep in contact with them. Good times.
