Peanut Allergies - Basic 101

How would you know if your child had peanut allergies or any other kind of allergies unless you gave them that food right? Here's a helpful document from PBSkids.org. They ask a Dr. Michael C. Young a series of questions on the subject of peanut allergies to aid parents and teachers on how to detect and treat a child with peanut allergies. Click here to download the PDF. It's a good source of information for all parents and care takers to read especially if you're unsure if your child has any allergies as of yet. These tips are good to keep up your mommy sleeve. You never know who and where.

Hair Bonbons

Unlike most mom-preneur stories, I did not start this company creating hair accessories for my daughter.  I've always been a more artistic and creative person and it was an outlet.  I discovered how adorable some of the hair accessories were when my sister and I went shopping together. Since she had a daughter, we went to a childrens boutique where I saw some of the fun little hair accessories that were out in the market.  I thought to myself, hmmm.....I'll bet I can do this too.  So that's when I started to play around with ideas. 

Soon after I started my “new hobby” I decided to go back to school and study fashion design.  There was a creative yearning inside me that wasn’t being fulfilled by my career.  I originally began my career in merchandise buying/planning.  My goal was to work my way up the career path and then to eventually land in product development so I can incorporate a bit of the natural creativity I had to offer.  I got restless.  My job was mostly about numbers and I was still seeking a way to fulfill that artistic side of me. 

After I finished design school, I continued making girls’ hair accessories which turned into a passion to offer something that was more MODERN, UNIQUE, COLORFUL AND FUN!!!!  So finally after years of ideas, I started Hair Bonbons…..hair candy for girls.  I like to combine different color and print combination's along with an assortment of fabrics and textures to create accessories that stand out from the rest.  A strong focus on these details is important to me. 

What continues to inspire me and my designs are current fashion trends and believe it or not....sweets! When I see beautiful, decadent cupcakes with all that heavenly frosting, at a bakery or pastry shop, I'm inspired.....when I see images of colorful and sweet bonbons wrapped so ornately in pastels, I'm inspired!! So when you take a look at my assortment of "hair candy", don't be surprised if your sweet tooth is satisfied.

All hair bonbons are handmade by me with love and care and I take pride in all my pieces. I hope you enjoy and love them as much as I do!

Easter Basket Cake | Cakes by Christine NYC

I was asked to make a 2nd year birthday cake with a Easter/Spring Theme.  She didn't give me any other ideas besides that and told me to "Go with it!" and  "Be Creative!" which is a very dangerous thing because I can totally run away with myself with ideas. It was (obviously) going to a children's party and she had mentioned that they would be doing easter dying crafts so I thought Why not do an easter basket filled with eggs??  ....   And VOILA!
